Holistic Veterinary Medicine

When you bring your pet to Best Friends Veterinary Hospital Crossville, Dr. Karcher will perform a holistic exam to assess your pet’s health and gain a better understanding of their individual needs. In addition to practicing conventional veterinary medicine, Dr. Karcher is also certified in dog and cat acupuncture, herbal medicine and food therapy through the Chi Veterinary Institute in Reddick, FL. She will perform a holistic exam to determine which part of your pet’s body is unbalanced or requires treatment. She will take your pet’s medical history including illnesses, food preferences, lifestyle, and temperature preferences. The results of this exam help Dr. Karcher decide whether or not your pet might benefit from cat and dog acupuncture or other holistic medicine treatment.

Acupuncture

Dog and cat acupuncture aims to restore balance within your pet’s body by targeting specific points along meridian pathways using very fine needles. This technique promotes natural healing, enhances energy flow, and fosters comfort. Pets experiencing a variety of conditions can benefit from acupuncture including:

  • Arthritis
  • Disc disease
  • Hind quarter discomfort
  • Allergies
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Liver disease
  • Seizures

Each session will take about 30 minutes, and the number of sessions may vary depending on your pet’s condition. More mild medical issues may only require 3 sessions to see results, whereas chronic issues may require several sessions before your pet experiences the effects of treatment. Dr. Karcher and our team are available to discuss a tailored treatment plan for your pet’s specific condition.
