Meet Dr. Courtney Madewell, a compassionate veterinarian with a heart as big as Texas. She began her veterinary career in 2012 after graduating from The University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Madewell joined Best Friends in Cookeville in June 2021, and became Medical Director in March 2022. With a gentle touch and a smile that lights up the room, she finds immense satisfaction in the art of wound care and craft of dentistry.

What truly sets Dr. Madewell apart is the sense of kinship she shares with her colleagues. To her, they’re not just coworkers; they’re family. Each day is filled with laughter, support, and the kind of camaraderie that makes the toughest challenges feel conquerable.

Dr. Madewell’s world doesn’t stop at the clinic doors. Outside of her professional life, she embraces her personal life with an adventurous spirit. Whether she’s spending time with her son, exploring winding trails, embarking on spontaneous travel adventures, or enjoying the serenity of Dale Hollow Lake, she finds solace and joy in the great outdoors.

At home, Dr. Madewell is surrounded by her son, Jackson, and pets: Sophie, the best Goldendoodle, and Wyatt, the entertaining Amazon Parrot. As a Texas native who found her second home in Tennessee in 2008, Dr. Madewell embodies the spirit of both states, blending southern hospitality with a passion for exploration and discovery.
