Dr. Kathleen Karcher
DVM

Dr. Karcher graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine and practices both conventional and holistic veterinary medicine.

After attending the Chi Veterinary Institute in Florida for several years, she obtained certification in veterinary acupuncture, herbal medicine, and food therapy. All these modalities are part of Traditional Chinese Medicine which has been practiced on humans and animals for centuries.
Dr Karcher also has studied Western herbal medicine which commonly uses one herb to treat a medical condition.

For clients who wish to use both modern drugs and herbals, they can be used together. It is common for these patients to use less of the conventional drugs once they are started on the herbals. A holistic exam is used to determine what part of the body is unbalanced or is being treated for a medical condition. A full history is taken which includes illnesses, ailments, food preferences, daily activity, sleeping habits, temperature preferences, and living arrangements.

After the intake exam is complete, a decision is made regarding if the patient would benefit from acupuncture, herbal, food therapy or a combination of these. The examination takes approximately 60 minutes, and acupuncture can be done after the exam is completed if needed.
Dr Karcher treats dogs, cats, and rabbits holistically.
