Pet Surgery Safety Precautions
To make your pet’s surgery go as smoothly as possible, with minimal risk, stress, and discomfort, our veterinary team implements the following precautions:
A pre-anesthetic exam and bloodwork ensure your pet is healthy enough to be placed under anesthesia. We check for illness and evaluate blood cell counts and organ function.
Your pet will be connected to an IV catheter during surgery so we can give them the necessary fluids for hydration and blood pressure support. Fluids also help to flush the anesthetic out of your pet’s system so they can awaken safely after surgery.
Our team watches your pet’s vital signs through the entire surgery. We measure blood pressure, respiration, oxygen saturation, temperature, and more to ensure your pet’s comfort and safety.
We use various types of pain control during and after surgery to help your companion recover. This includes nerve blocks, and oral medication that can be given while your pet is recuperating at home.
