Dr. Anthony Warlick


Dr. Warlick was born in Opelika, AL and grew up in southern Indiana.  He attended Purdue University for undergrad.  He then attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts with his final year back at Purdue.  After graduating in January of 2002, Dr. Warlick moved to Crossville, TN and worked 4 years in a mixed animal hospital.  In February of 2006, Dr. Warlick and his wife Elizabeth opened Best Friends Veterinary Hospital with the desire to better serve the community.  

Dr. Warlick and Elizabeth have three children (Johnathan, Joseph (in Heaven), and Jayne Elizabeth), two dogs (River and Grace), and a cat (Angel). Outside of work, Dr. Warlick enjoys hunting, fishing, soccer and spending time with his wife and kids. Dr. Warlick also devotes his time to the Joseph Warlick Memorial Foundation in honor of his son. 

Dan Richardson

Manager of Crossville Office

Dan Richardson grew up in Southern Indiana and graduated from the University of Evansville (IN) BA 1985, MBA 1988. Dan moved to Crossville in 1989 and worked in human medical administration for 21 years. He joined Best Friends Veterinary Hospital in 2013 as our practice manager. When away from the clinic, he spends time travelling with his wife of 30 years, and enjoying their son’s families. Keeping up with four grandchildren and nine cats takes most of his time and energy.

Dr. Kristin Miller

 Crossville Veterinarian

Dr. Kristin Miller was born and raised in Michigan.  She attended undergrad at the University of Finley in Ohio where she received her bachelor’s degree in biology and animal science in 2012.  She then went on to attend veterinary school at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts.  She completed her clinical year at The Ohio State University and graduated in May of 2016.  

Dr. Miller is married and has a daughter named, Charlotte. She also has 5 pets that keep her busy, 3 dogs (Autumn, Paisley, and Francis) and 2 cats (Lightning Bug and Biscuit).  While not at work, Dr. Miller loves to spend time outdoors, taking her dogs hiking, and spending time with her husband and family.  Dr. Miller’s main areas of interest in veterinary medicine include dentistry and internal medicine.  She also enjoys getting to know the areas pets and animal owners.


Dr. Mary Clare Taylor

 Crossville Veterinarian

Dr. Mary Clare Taylor, born in Lawrenceburg, TN,  received both her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. After graduating in 2016 she moved to Crossville and began working at Best Friends. 

Dr. Taylor lives with her husband, Curtis, their son, Bennett and two dogs and one cat (Bo, Bean, and Wolfie). She loves spending time outside hiking, kayaking, and fishing and enjoys cooking and trying new recipes whenever possible. She is Fear Free certified and enjoys educating people about preventative medicine to keep their fur babies as healthy as possible.


Dr. Sarah Bussey

 Crossville Veterinarian

Dr. Sarah Bussey was born and raised right here in Crossville, TN and attended Cumberland County High School. She completed her undergraduate course work at Tennessee Technological University, then went on to graduate from The University of Tennessee with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2013. 

Dr. Bussey is happily married with two young daughters. She and her family enjoy kayaking, hiking, camping and above all Tennessee football. Dr. Bussey loves being a part of her hometown and enjoys giving back to this community. Dr. Bussey also has one dog and a cat, chickens, goats, quail and fish. 

Nika Padgett

Dr. Nika Cantrell

 Crossville Veterinarian

Dr. Nika Cantrell was born in Cookeville, TN and grew up in Monterey, TN.  Dr. Cantrell attended Tennessee Technological University for her undergraduate and Master’s degree in biology. While at Tennessee Tech she worked with all types of reptiles and amphibians; from salamanders to sea turtles. Knowing her heart belonged in Veterinary Medicine, she attended the University of Tennessee of Veterinary Medicine. She graduated in 2019 and is delighted to join the Best Friends Team. Outside of work she enjoys antiques, reading and spending time with her husband Matthew and daughter Lilly, beautiful gray cat(Cheshie) and australian shepherd(Cubby) and a turtle (Wordy).


Dr. Laura Taylor

 Cookeville Veterinarian

Dr. Laura Taylor was born and raised in Dexter, Michigan, NW of Ann Arber. She attended Michigan State University for her undergrad, where she received her bachelor’s degree in zoology. She then attended Ross University of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2020. Dr. Taylor also completed a small-animal rotating internship at Oaklahoma State from June 2020 to July 2021. 

Outside of work Dr. Taylor enjoys reading a good book on her back porch with some hot coffee, traveling, crocheting, and hiking with her 2 dogs, Beau and Penny, coconut retrievers (Island dogs). Dr. Taylor also has 2 cats, Roo and Louie.


Dr. Courtney Madewell, DVM

 Cookeville Veterinarian

Dr. Madewell was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. She attended LSU, Texas A&M and graduated with her undergraduate degree from Hardin Simmons University. She then attended University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated class of 2012. Outside of work Dr. Madewell enjoys watching her son play basketball and baseball. She loves to spend time outside, preferably near water; traveling, hiking, and wakesurfing. She also has a Goldendoodle named, Sophie. 


Dr. Baylee Reed

 Crossville Veterinarian

Dr. Baylee Reed was born in Huntsville, Alabama, and grew up in Melbourne, Florida. There, she attended the Florida Institute of Technology. After undergrad, she attended the University of Tennessee of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2021. 

Dr. Reed is happily married and has 2 dogs (Ruby and Rosie) and 10 chickens. Outside of work, Dr. Reed loves spending time with friends and family 


Dr. Daniel Spindel

 Crossville Veterinarian

Dr. Daniel Spindel was born and raised in Woodbridge, VA just outside of Washington D.C. He attended George Mason University, graduated with a biology major. After,  he attended and graduated from Ross University, then completed his Clinical year through Lincoln Memorial University in 2021.

Outside of the office, Spindel enjoys going on hikes with his dogs, camping, really anything active and outdoors. He has two dogs of his own, Mickey and Yogi. Mickey was adopted from Best Friends and Yogi was adopted off the streets of the Caribbean. He also has one very entertaining cat, named Lou.
